When to fireproof fabric ?
Fireproofing fabrics becomes necessary when they are placed in establishments open to the public or during events such as exhibitions or fairs. Fabrics are often highly flammable, so the goal is to ensure the safety of visitors by preventing fabrics (curtains, covers, etc.) from catching fire and spreading flames. The aim of the M1 fire treatment of fabrics is to limit combustion and smoke emissions from fabrics.
Comment procéder à l’ignifugation d’un textile ?
To fireproof a fabric, you will need to know its composition, dimensions, and thickness. To make it easier for you, we have set up a scale depending on the type of fabric you want to treat against fire.
Vérifiez bien en amont que le textile à ignifuger est propre et sec. Il ne doit pas avoir été imperméabilisé au préalable, auquel cas le traitement ignifugeant ne fonctionnera pas.
Once you have reviewed the scale, you will know the number of sprays needed for your fabric. You will then need to spray your fabric on both sides until it is saturated (without dripping). Remember to carry out a test on a sample of the fabric beforehand to check that there is no change in its color, feel, or appearance. You can apply the flame retardant by spraying or by dipping. After spraying the product, hang your fabric and wait between 12 and 72 hours for it to dry properly. From this moment on, it will only support dry cleaning.
