To fireproof fabrics

At Alfaflor, we offer tailored solutions to flame-proof your textiles, adapted for public establishments (ERP): theaters, performance venues, hotels, etc. Curtains, fabric sets, sheers, event textiles: we apply treatment by spraying (small quantities, quick and precise application) or by dipping (uniform impregnation over large surfaces), always to full saturation until excess runs off — this step guarantees the M1 classification.

Our treatment achieves the M1 fire reaction rating (LNE test certificate No. P258195-DEC/1) on approved fibers: polypropylene, polyester, linen, and cotton (woven, light to medium weight). The rating is maintained as long as the textile is not washed or dry-cleaned. Need treatment for another material — velvet, heavy fabrics, coated blackout fabrics, blends, upholstery? Contact us: we will examine your textile and guide you. In public establishments (ERP), final compliance is assessed with your inspection body or safety committee.

Spray fireproofing

We offer an in-shop fireproofing service for your fabric bolts, cardboard, and artificial plants. Our treatments achieve the M1 fire reaction rating, backed by our LNE test certificates: textiles on approved fibers — polypropylene, polyester, linen, cotton — and artificial plants on their synthetic fibers (Test Certificate No. P258195); cardboard under the EuroCarton brand (Test Certificate No. P230617-DEC/1). Each material is treated using the required method — for textiles and plants, by spraying or dipping to full saturation until excess runs off. Entrust us with your materials: we treat them in our workshops while preserving their appearance. Depending on the material, the rating is maintained as long as the textile is not washed or dry-cleaned, and must be renewed annually for cardboard and plants (indoor use, protected from water). In public establishments (ERP), final compliance is assessed with your inspection body or safety committee.

What is spray fireproofing ?

Spray fireproofing involves applying a flame-retardant product directly to the surface of a material using a sprayer. It delays the spread of flames and improves the fire reaction of the treated materials (fabrics, artificial plants, cardboard, etc.). It is well suited for large surfaces or fixtures already in place that cannot be submerged.

Key point: The M1 classification is only achieved if the product is applied until the material is saturated and the excess runs off. A mere light mist underdoses the material and does not guarantee the classification — it is the amount actually retained, not the speed of application, that determines the performance.

When applied correctly, spraying effectively treats large surfaces without altering the appearance or texture of the material — making it ideal for scenery, curtains, and structures for events or temporary installations.

Advantages of fireproofing by spraying

  • Speed and even coverage: Fast and uniform application over large surfaces or fixtures already in place.
  • Safe for delicate surfaces: A minimally invasive method, suitable for sensitive materials such as lightweight fabrics.
  • Compliance with standards: Our products are laboratory-tested (LNE) and enable the materials they are designed to treat to achieve the M1 classification, provided they are applied according to the required method (saturation and runoff):

Your questions about fireproofing by spraying

Does spraying damage the material?

No. The method is gentle and safe for the treated surfaces. Eurotextil may leave a slightly sticky feel, without compromising the integrity or functionality of the material. The treatment is carried out with precision to minimize any visual or tactile impact.

Is fireproofing by spraying durable?

This depends on the material. On textiles, the classification is maintained as long as the fabric is neither washed nor dry-cleaned (indoor use, protected from water). On artificial plants and cardboard, the classification’s durability is one year: an annual re-treatment is necessary to remain compliant (cardboard being additionally sensitive to moisture and light). In all cases, they are intended for indoor use.

Does fireproofing by spraying comply with fire safety standards?

The treatment achieves the M1 fire reaction classification for the materials covered by our test reports (PV), provided the prescribed method and application rates (saturation and runoff) are respected. Our products are laboratory-tested (LNE). In public access buildings (ERP), the final compliance of the installation is assessed with your inspection body or the safety commission.

Fireproofing by dipping

Alfaflor offers a fireproofing service by dipping, with padding (foulardage) for fabric widths. Entrust us with your projects: we treat your textiles in our workshops and provide you with the treatment certificate corresponding to the M1 classification achieved on the materials covered by our test reports. In public access buildings (ERP), the final compliance of the installation is assessed with your inspection body or the safety commission.

What is dipping fireproofing ?

Dipping consists of fully immersing the material in the fire-retardant solution. The product penetrates to the core of the fibers for homogeneous protection — not just on the surface. The method is well-suited for absorbent textiles made of our approved fibers (polypropylene, polyester, linen, cotton).

For fabrics, dipping is followed by padding: the fabric width passes between two adjustable-pressure rollers to set the absorption rate, followed by oven drying (resulting in a dry and silky appearance). The setting must achieve at least the load approved in the test report (PV) — this is what guarantees the M1 classification, not just the mere passage through the rollers.

The treatment achieves the M1 fire reaction classification (LNE test report) for materials within our scope. Heavy fabrics, velvet, or coated blackout curtains? These are outside our tested scope — contact us, and we will evaluate your material.

Dipping is particularly suited for deep and durable treatments: our approved textiles and softwood (Euromassif Bois, for which this is the application method approved by the test report). Ideal for long-lasting protection — textiles: as long as they are neither washed nor dry-cleaned; wood: indoors, protected from the weather.

Advantages of fireproofing by immersion

  • Deep protection and uniformity: Immersion allows for core impregnation for homogeneous protection — particularly suited for softwood and absorbent textile fibers within our scope (PP, polyester, linen, cotton).
  • Durable protection: Through total immersion at the required load, dipping ensures a long-lasting fire reaction (wood: indoors, protected from the weather; textiles: as long as they are neither washed nor dry-cleaned).
  • Suitable for absorbent materials: Ideal for substrates requiring deep impregnation without altering their integrity.
  • The M1 Classification: Our products are laboratory-tested (LNE) and enable the materials they are designed to treat to achieve the M1 classification when applied according to the required method.

Your questions about fireproofing by immersion

Does the dipping treatment change the appearance or texture of the materials?

No. Dipping does not alter the appearance or texture of the materials. For fabrics, it even offers an advantage: unlike spraying, it does not leave a sticky effect. The product penetrates the core of the fibers, and drying ensures a dry, silky finish, preserving the natural feel of the fabric.

What materials can be flame retardant by dipping?

Dipping is suitable for absorbent materials within our scope: approved textile fibers (polypropylene, polyester, linen, cotton) and softwood (Euromassif Bois). Deep impregnation ensures homogeneous and durable protection. Heavy fabrics, velvet, or other wood species? Contact us: we will evaluate your material and guide you.

How long does the fireproofing process by immersion take?

This depends on the material and the volume to be treated: wood or large quantities require a longer treatment time (impregnation followed by drying to the core). For an accurate estimate, please contact us: we will schedule the treatment and the return of your materials to meet your deadlines.
