What is Artificial Plant Fire Retardant and why is it necessary for my decoration?
This ready-to-use spray is the simplest solution for bringing your artificial plant decorations (flowers, trees, plants) up to M1 fire safety standards in all Public Access Buildings (ERP).
The artificial plant fire retardant is a specific, colorless, and odorless solution designed to treat the plastic and synthetic fabric of decorative plants. Scope of the test report: 100% polypropylene 70 g/m² and 100% polyester 175 g/m² — these two substrates only. Moulded stems, frames, moss and plant-wall media are not within that scope: we do not claim an M1 classification on them. Contact us: we will assess the feasibility of a treatment and, if necessary, of a dedicated test. These materials are often highly flammable. The product creates a protective barrier, conferring an M1 classification on the treated artificial fibres, under the conditions of LNE test report no. P258195 – DEC/2. The regulations applicable to artificial floral decorations in premises open to the public (ERP), hotels, restaurants and shops included, require an M2 classification: the treatment therefore classifies the treated fibres above that requirement. In premises open to the public, the final compliance of the installation is assessed, project by project, with your inspection body or the competent safety commission.
How does the M1 classification work and how can it be obtained with this sprayer?
Our product is tested and classified M1 (in accordance with Standard NF P92-503). Classification is based on precise dosage: you must saturate the entire surface of the plant. The 0.5L spray bottle is ideal for small and medium-sized rooms. A blank application declaration and the traceability labels are supplied with the product. After application, the applying company completes, dates and signs it and affixes the labels. The declaration stays with the applicator: it is not returned to us and we do not countersign it. The effectiveness of the treatment depends on adhering to the dosage instructions across the entire surface to be treated with a fire retardant. Find all our sizes on the Artificial Plant Fire-retardant treatment category page.
Classified M1 under the conditions of LNE test report no. P258195 – DEC/2 — LNE, a laboratory accredited for reaction-to-fire testing. The classification is obtained when the product is applied in accordance with the instructions for use, on the substrates covered by the test report (100% polypropylene 70 g/m², 100% polyester 175 g/m²), until saturation and run-off.
How much should I order for my project?
-
- Refer to the scale for the use of our flame-retardant products specifically developed for artificial plants.
- Calculate, according to the type of artificial plants you need to fire-retardant, the number of points corresponding to your needs. The total should be divided by 100 (1 sprayer = 100 points). This will give you the exact number of sprayers to use.
1 sprayer = 100 points

What is the optimal application method for this product on artificial flowers, trees, and plants?
The application must be meticulous, as all exposed surfaces must be treated. The 0.5L spray bottle is ready to use:
- Preparation: Ensure the plant is clean and dry.
- Application: Spray the artificial plant fire retardant thoroughly onto all leaves, flowers, and branches. It is crucial that the product penetrates and coats the synthetic fibers.
- Drying: Allow to dry naturally (drying time varies).
For precise dosage: 1 liter of product treats approximately 8 m² of surface area (leaves and branches fully extended). The 0.5L spray bottle covers approximately 4 m². For larger trees, a 5L bottle is recommended.
Is the solution visible, does it alter the appearance of the plants, and is it dangerous?
The artificial plant fire retardant solution is colorless. Conditions of use and handling are set out in the product safety data sheet. Once dry, however, it leaves a glossy finish on the leaves and a slightly sticky feeling. It is recommended to test the product on a small, hidden area first. During application, work in a well-ventilated area and protect it from heat. The product is designed for indoor use only.
What is the lifespan of the M1 fire protection on artificial plants?
The M1 classification obtained with EUROFLOR is valid for one year from application: annual re-treatment is required, in accordance with LNE test report no. P258195 – DEC/2. M1 is the highest level attainable by a combustible material under the French classification. The classification is issued by the LNE, a laboratory accredited for reaction-to-fire testing: a report issued outside accreditation is not enforceable in premises open to the public. More than 40 years of fire-retardant treatment experience, since 1984. Would you like to examine the file before ordering? Contact us and we will send it to you in Specimen format. The product is intended for indoor use, protected from washing and excessive humidity. In premises open to the public, the final compliance of the installation is assessed, project by project, with your inspection body or the competent safety commission.
