Passing the safety commission inspection in a care home (EHPAD)

27 January 2026

Anticipate ERP inspections and secure your care home

The end of the year is a key period for inspections in French buildings open to the public, known as ERP (Etablissements Recevant du Public). For the managers of a care home, fire safety compliance is an absolute priority, under strict regulations written to protect particularly vulnerable occupants.

A single curtain, sheer or piece of furniture that does not comply can bring an unfavourable opinion from the safety commission and put your establishment’s activity at risk.

Since 1984, Alfaflor has supported healthcare establishments in anticipating these deadlines and securing living areas, with recognised expertise in flame-retardant treatment.

Buying flame-retardant products: the simple, fast route

To treat targeted areas quickly, or to touch up a few items before an inspection, buying our professional solutions is the most flexible option.

Our flame retardants come as a spray or in a drum, ready to use so your technical teams can apply them straight away.

  • Applied by spraying or by dipping, to saturation and run-off
  • Suited to curtains, sheers and drapes, on the four substrates covered by LNE classification report No. P258195-DEC/1: polypropylene 70 g/m², polyester 175 g/m², linen 230 g/m², cotton 150 g/m²
  • Detailed instructions for use supplied with every order
  • Fast delivery when the deadline is close

A sound answer when you need to act quickly ahead of a safety inspection.

Our treatment services, in our workshop or on your site

For large volumes, or where you want the result of a professional application, Alfaflor offers complete services adapted to your logistical constraints.

Workshop treatment:

You ship us your textiles (curtains, drapes) and we treat them by dipping or by spraying.
→ The result: the product penetrates evenly into the heart of the fibres, for maximum effectiveness.

On-site work:

Our teams travel anywhere in France to treat your installations in place.
→ Ideal for fixed furnishings, and it spares the residents any disruption to daily life.

Your compliance file

The classification report (procès-verbal de classement) is issued by the LNE, a laboratory accredited for reaction-to-fire testing, and it travels with the product. Every order is delivered with that report, the instructions for use, the application declaration to be completed by the company that applies the product, and the traceability labels.

M1 is the second class on the French reaction-to-fire scale set by standard NF P 92-507, which runs from M0 to M4. Reaction to fire describes how a material feeds a fire that has already started; it is a different property from fire resistance, which measures how long a building element holds a fire back.

Whether you apply the product yourself or call on our services, Alfaflor supplies the documents your safety file needs.

  • Flame-retardant treatment declaration (attestation d’ignifugation)
  • M1 classification report (procès-verbal de classement)

Completed and kept in the safety register, this file is what the safety commission examines; judging compliance is its call, not ours.

For textiles, our EUROTEXTIL flame retardant is classified M1 by the LNE, a laboratory accredited for reaction-to-fire testing, under classification report No. P258195-DEC/1, on curtains, sheers, drapes and furnishing fabrics falling within the four fibres and weights that report covers: polypropylene 70 g/m², polyester 175 g/m², linen 230 g/m², cotton 150 g/m². Seats fall under article AM 18 §2, which the report excludes from its scope of validity: contact us and we will assess whether a treatment is feasible and, if a dedicated test is needed, how to set one up.
