Fire retardant for wood – EUROMASSIF BOIS

Fire retardant for wood – EUROMASSIF BOIS

0.5 L bottle — applied by immersion in a bath

Ready-to-use water-based solution for solid softwood of the yellow-fir type. Made in France. Also available in 10, 20, 30 and 120 L containers.

Classified M1 — the highest level a combustible material can reach under the French classification — under the conditions of LNE test report no. P258195-DEC/3, issued by the LNE, a laboratory accredited for reaction-to-fire testing. The reference application method is complete immersion of the wood components in a bath, until saturation and run-off, at 5.5 kg of product per m², i.e. approximately 0.18 m² per litre. Spraying, rolling, brushing and spray-gun application do not correspond to the reference application method. Durability is unlimited in time indoors, sheltered from the weather.

Every order is delivered with the classification test report, the instructions for use and the application declaration. EUROMASSIF BOIS is the exception: its application declaration has no traceability-label system. You record four figures taken on site — wood species, thickness in mm, treated area in m² and quantity of product used in kg.

Is this fire retardant product manufactured in France and for what type of wood is it classified?

Yes, we are proud to offer a professional-grade wood fire retardant entirely manufactured in France (SNPI), guaranteeing reliability and traceability for project owners. The test report covers raw, untreated yellow-fir softwood, 10 mm thick. The classification cannot be automatically extended to hardwoods (oak, beech), to MDF, plywood, OSB or particleboard, to softwood species not comparable to yellow fir, to substantially different thicknesses, or to painted, varnished, oiled or previously treated surfaces. Any substrate outside this scope requires prior validation with your inspection body; contact us and we will assess the feasibility of a dedicated test.

What precise dosage should I use for classified M1 fire-retardant protection on wood?

To guarantee M1 fire resistance and validate the provided classification test report, the application ratio must be strictly adhered to. The validated quantity corresponds to application by immersion until the wood is saturated. The reference dose measured in the wet state on removal from the bath is 5.5 kg/m², i.e. approximately 5 litres per m² (about 0.2 m² per litre) for the substrate tested. Spraying, rolling and brushing do not correspond to the reference application method. Feel free to use our quantity calculator on the product page to adjust your order (10 to 120 L containers, sample, etc.) without error.

How to easily apply EUROMASSIF BOIS fire retardant to guarantee M1 fire safety validation?

Our wood fire retardant formula is ready to use and designed for quick, professional application. The application method validated by the test report is full immersion of the parts in a bath, both faces and all edges impregnated, until saturation and run-off. The key to achieving the M1 fire rating is proper surface preparation: the wood, whether new or old, must be sanded, clean, dry, unvarnished, unpainted, and untreated. Immerse the parts completely in the bath until saturation and run-off, at the reference dose of 5.5 kg/m² measured in the wet state on removal from the bath, then drain and dry to constant mass in ambient conditions. Spraying, rolling, brushing and spray-gun application are outside the protocol for this product.

What fire safety classification is required for my establishment and is EUROMASSIF BOIS compliant?

The interior design of Public Access Buildings (ERP) and hospitality establishments (CHR) must strictly comply with current fire safety standards. In France, the absolute reference is the M1 fire rating. EUROMASSIF BOIS is classified M1 under the conditions of LNE test report no. P258195-DEC/3. The LNE is a laboratory accredited for reaction-to-fire testing; a report issued outside accreditation is not enforceable in premises open to the public. The M1 fire retardant classification test report, essential for the safety commission, is systematically included in your package.

What is a wood fire retardant and what is its benefit for professionals?

A wood fire retardant is a liquid, odorless, and colorless solution that creates a protective barrier within the wood. Its action significantly delays ignition and the spread of flames on woodwork. For construction companies, interior designers, and architects, applied in accordance with the instructions for use, on the substrates covered by the test report, the product confers an M1 classification on the treated wood — the highest level of the French classification for a combustible material. In premises open to the public, the final compliance of the installation is assessed, project by project, with your inspection body or the competent safety commission.

What is the lifespan of the EUROMASSIF BOIS M1 fire protection?

Durability of the classification: unlimited in time indoors, sheltered from the weather, on the substrates and under the conditions of the test report. The treatment is not washable: after drying, treated items must not be exposed to water, washing or prolonged moisture.
