The cost is calculated by area. Solid wood absorbs 5.5 kg/m² to saturation, i.e. about 5 litres of EUROMASSIF BOIS per m², plus the volume needed to fill the bath. For the VI BOIS intumescent system, allow 200 g/m² in total, primer and topcoat included, i.e. about 6 m² per litre — a 20-litre can covers 120 m².

Anyone can fire-retardant as long as they use the right product. Buying the product and applying it yourself will be the most economical solution: no labor costs, no travel.
To compare the prices of wood fire retardants, check :
- The quantity of product : in ML or in grams, try to compare equivalent quantities. If this is not possible, check the surface that you can treat with the product.
- The surface treated with the same quantity of product : it is possible that there are more or less concentrated products. So, if the price of a bottle from brand A is cheaper but you need 3 more, this is not the right deal.
- The standard classified by a laboratory : you can check the standard met by the product. It can be in the form “M” with a number from 1 to 3, which corresponds to the French standard or from A2 to D, which corresponds to the European standard. The standard must be classified in a report. You can request a copy of this report and present it to your inspection office if necessary.
In addition to being an economical solution, it is often the fastest.

As always, remember to check the classified standard; do not buy M2 panels if you must comply with the standard M1, your safety commission will not validate it.
